Welcome to the Casa Sosa Spanish School in Quetzaltenango Guatemala Why study Spanish in Guatemala? Guatemala is one of the most affordable countries in Latin America for both travel and study. Visitors enjoy Quetzaltenango (also known as Xela) not only for its beautiful environment, but for all the activities it has to offer. Located in the western highlands, Xela is a historic colonial center surrounded by mountains and volcanoes. In dowtown Xela one can find a variety of affordable restaurants, internet cafes, and an enjoyable night life. Students learning Spanish in Xela can experience city life but don't have to go far to enjoy the natural beauties of Guatemala like hot springs, volcanos, ruins and indigenous villages. Guatemala is also home to some of the most biodiverse landscapes in Latin America. One can visit hot coastal plains, beaches and cool highland regions to tropical jungles of the Petén región, all in the same weekend. Casa Sosa School is located in the central historical región of beautiful Xela. All classes are held on site along with the Homestay. Research has shown that learning rarely takes place when there are distractions. We take this seriously and realize that somethings are extremely detrimental to a student’s learning experience. At Casa Sosa you will not find distractions that prevent learning. Our program is designed so that each student and teacher has their own prívate area. We take pride in having designed areas that include a garden courtyard as well as an inside garden, prívate learning spaces and a roof top panoramic view of Xela where students can also study. Unlike most Spanish Schools in Quetzaltenango Guatemala, we never just teach a few hours of Spanish and then leave the students on their own. Classes are held for five hours each day with the teacher being fully present. Extra curricular activities and excursions are an essential component of our program. Students are able to practice and apply their skills in realistic everyday situations while at the same time learn about the culture, customs and history of Latin America. At Casa Sosa Spanish School it is our goal to provide a full range of services. We take pride and work hard to make our students as confortable as possible while they concentrate on learning universal Spanish. Our sudents are generally very pleased with the service they receive. Try Casa Sosa School1 Reviews: “I have attended several schools in Xela but must say that Casa Sosa was the absolute best. It is a family run business and every one was so nice. I felt like I was a part of their family. My teacher was Damarys the first week. She was excellent. The second week I had a different teacher named Miriam who is also the Director of the school. She was also excellent. Miriam taught me alot in a short time and kept the school running also. Not only were the two teachers excellent but the school was immaculate and the food was the best in Xela. I highly recommend Casa Sosa School. You get much more tan you pay for. “ Luci Ryan “Miriam and I worked out clases and developed a very effective system for learning Spanish. Miriam is a very patient and effective teacher. We worked two hours in the morning and two hours in the afternoon. You will have excellent pronunciation, vocabulary, and be able to conjúgate verbs in your first week. This is an inexpensive way to jump start your way into Spanish. I would highly recommend that you enquire with Trinis or Miriam.” Brad Sonday
“Gracias por todos! We have had a great time staying with you for the last week and we feel that we are understanding and talking Spanish much better than we were at the beginning of the week. Thanks again.” Tom and Heidi “I must say that this has been the best experience of my life in learning to speak Spanish. I stayed at Casa Sosa for three weeks and have to say that I learned so much Spanish that I can now hold an intelligent conversation which I could never do before. The school is amazing. First of all, it is a family run business. The Director of the program is Miriam. She has developed the program, designed the space, hired the best teachers in Xela, and runs the program. One of the many things I liked about this program is that homestay and classes are all in the same building. This is unique. The meals were outstanding. Miriam’s mother is the chef and really everything she cooked was delicious. Try this school and you will not be sorry.” Adám Getchell
